** History has proven time and time again that people’s stories are not archived properly, nor truthfully, when said people do not feel truly safe to tell their stories. Therefore both the archival process and the closing party event are for Black People of Color only. **
**The process of collecting Black stories is a safe space created by BPOCs for BPOCs.**
The Black_lab is initiating and hosting a pop-up archive for Black_Stories from March 2nd to March 14th at the theater Gessnerallee in Zurich.
We are looking for your hidden story for the Black_Stories Archive – a collection!
Are the depictions you know of Black people living in Switzerland also few and far between? Do you have Black role models?
Where and how do you orient yourself while existing in a primarily white reality?
Under what circumstances have black tears run across your cheeks?
We are asking for your contribution, your memories, your day-to-day life, your biography, your individual story, your passion for detail.
Every Black voice matters!
Together, we will condense our roots, lived realities, fights, visions and dreams in an artful manner into a rhizome of iridescent Black everyday life.
Join us anytime starting from Thursday March 5th to Thursday March 12th between 12 am and 8 pm at Nordflügel Theaterhaus Gessnerallee and tell us your personal Black story. Archival entries can be placed in any language, but we have archivists who speak French, Spanish, Creole, English or German on hand to help guide you through your storytelling process. (Sunday March 8th the lab is closed)
You are free to do it in either video or audio format; through photographs; your own pieces of writing. The possibility to create spontaneously through, i.e drawings or collages will be available. The chance to perform or record your black_ness live on stage will also be an option.
No appointment needed.
Your contribution will only be published as part of the Black_lab with your consent.
If you don’t have the time to come to Zurich you can send us your contribution per e-mail or upload it online.
